What is Enduring Power of Attorney?

An Enduring Power of Attorney or EPOA is best described as your living Will. It takes effect when you are no longer capable of making decisions on your own. Your EPOA has total control over your assets and able to make personal decisions about your health care and accommodation when you cannot do so. An EPOA ends when you pass away.

This legal document allows you to outline your decisions about accepting or refusing health care treatments directly to a health care provider when it comes to life support or life-prolonging medical interventions. This document can be provided in advance, so that your medical team can be made aware of your wishes.

The Personal Advance Directive must be followed when it mentions the health care decision needed at the time. Therefore, no one will be asked to make a decision on your behalf.
